Seanchas Beò | Living Lore is an 18-month collaborative project focused on storytelling, cultural heritage and oral histories rooted in local communities, part of Creative Scotland’s Culture Collective programme. The Skye and Lochalsh Archive Centre, Tobar an Dualchais and Ionad Thròndairnis have come together to each co-commission a creative practitioner with ATLAS Arts. ATLAS will support, coordinate, amplify and build connections across each of the three projects.
We are looking for two artists with a strong existing connection to Skye and Lochalsh – to work with either The Skye and Lochalsh Archive Centre, or Ionad Thròndairnis (joining Tobar an Dualchais’ selected artist Raghnaid Sandilands). Artists will make new community-based artworks exploring the cultural memory held in archives, landscapes, language and lived experience of Skye and Lochalsh.
The commission comes with an artist fee akin to a salary 3.5 days a week, plus a production, mileage, access budget.
